Responsibilities
The technician will operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial ammonia refrigeration systems. Duties also include maintaining glycol and chilled-water cooling systems; working with ammonia compressors, evaporative condensers, plate heat exchangers, pumps, valves, pressure vessels, and refrigeration piping; and monitoring system pressures and temperatures.
Other responsibilities include performing preventive and corrective maintenance, diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults, reading P&IDs and equipment manuals, keeping maintenance records, and supporting PLC-controlled refrigeration systems.
Required qualifications and experience
Applicants should have a diploma or technical certificate in refrigeration, mechanical engineering, or a related field, along with at least five years of experience with industrial ammonia refrigeration systems. Practical experience with glycol chilling and chilled-water circulation systems is also required.
Experience in food processing, bakery, dairy, beverage, or cold-storage facilities is preferred. Candidates should be able to troubleshoot equipment effectively and work independently as well as with a maintenance team.
Ammonia safety requirements
Because the role involves industrial ammonia systems, candidates should understand ammonia safety procedures and emergency response.
